In celebration of Canada’s Islamic History Month, Spirit of Unity is a co-created geometric art installation that echoes the centuries-old tradition of patterns used as a symbol for unity, contemplation, and cross-cultural connection.
This collective installation was crafted through a series of hands-on workshops designed and taught by Safoura Zahedi for The City of Brampton.
Following an artist talk on the history and philosophy of Islamic geometry, art, and architecture, workshop participants were guided through crafting their own geometric tiles using Safoura’s custom-designed 3D-printed Geometry Tile Kit. The resulting 40+ unique tiles were curated by Safoura to create sculptural wall installation exhibited at Brampton City Hall, inviting the community to join in on Spirit of Unity.
